Counseling can help create changes in mood, attitudes, behavior, thoughts and feelings that
prevent a person from enjoying life and realizing his or her potential.
I provide individual, marital, family, and group psychotherapy for adults and young adults.
Types of issues that I address in individual therapy and group therapy include, but are not limited
to:
adjustment, grief & loss, anger management, family of origin,
depression, anxiety, relationship, premarital, marital, addiction &
recovery, obsessive compulsive, bipolar, phobias
Counseling involves sharing sensitive, personal, and private information that may, at times, be
distressing. During the course of counseling, clients often experience periods of anxiety or
confusion.
Counseling is best accomplished when it is a combined, collaborative effort between the
counselor and client. I will respect each client as an individual and convey this respect by:
a). Keeping appointments or contacting the client to reschedule, if necessary;
b). Giving the client my complete attention during sessions;
c). Avoiding interruptions during sessions;
d). Providing the client with the most effective counseling possible.
I use traditional psychotherapy approaches that meet the needs of each client. Some clients may
require only a few sessions while others may need more intensive psychotherapy.
What is group therapy and how can it be helpful to me?
Group Therapy consists of 6-8 individuals who can share their experiences in a safe environment.
The group is able to give support, offer alternatives, and comfort members in such a way that
these difficulties become resolved and alternative behaviors are learned.
During group therapy, people begin to see that they are not alone and that there is hope and
help. It is comforting to hear that other people have a similar difficulty, or have already worked
through a problem that deeply disturbs another group member. Confidentiality from each member
of the group is not only essential, but a requirement of participation in group therapy. Also,
people feel free to care about each other, share openly, and give appropriate feedback because
of the climate of trust in the group.
